Living in the North...
Why the new blog.... I exhaused the photo limit on the old one.... rubbish!
Apologies for the lack of communication since leaving the UK - things have been hectic. First of all I should announce I got my visa so that trial is over! Phew! Just 5 more years and I can get citizenship...!!
It took 3 days to get over the jet lag - Elly and I saw a lot of 3ams together wide awake but we managed in the end. The Flihgt back was good as a friend of mine was on the plane next to me with her baby from LA to Christchurch (4 seats between 2 adults and 2 6 month olds! woohoo!)
After that ordeal we moved house - twice! First we shifted all our stuff to the house over the road/drive. Our neighbours have moved to oz, we loved their house (same as our last one but even better views and a bit bigger - oh and a spa pool) and they wanted us to move in...that will serve the landlord right for trying to increase our rent by $20 a week [note of smugness: Landlord still does not appear to have relet the property 1 month after we have moved out - and has had to reduce the rent - ha ha!]
Anyway, that took a week. Nathan and I had to take it in turns shifting boxes and furniture while the other looked after Elly. As she slept (1 hour a day) we ran like maniacs between the houses... We started Saturday at noon and finally finished the following saturday at 1pm!! Oh My God - It was a mamouth exercise - I ahve never had so much stuff. How did that happen in a year!!
After that we had to pack the car - we were not living in our new house immediately - we were in fact shifting islands!! Nathan has a job in New Plymouth and so we are now living there for a few months! The Christchurch house has been sub let to a woman who is having an earthquake re-build of her own house... very handy.
So here we are in the North. I thought I could post some photos with some captions rather than write an essay...!
I can't make the photos bigger which is annoying... but if you click on the first photo you get a slide show making the pictures bigger...
